Get a Real Number for Your Deck Project
A Skyline deck estimate is a written, itemized number for your specific project: materials, labor, scope, and timeline, based on an actual look at your space. It covers any deck work we do, from a small repair to a full custom build, anywhere in the Austin metro.
Call 737-363-4018 to schedule yours.
What does the estimate include?
A number you can plan around, not a guess with a disclaimer. Your written estimate spells out the scope of work in plain language, the materials it’s based on, the labor to do it, and the timeline it fits in. If the project has decision points that change the number, like wood versus composite, or keeping versus rebuilding a section of frame, we price the options side by side so you’re comparing real figures instead of imagining them.
What it deliberately isn’t: a teaser number designed to get a signature, with the real costs arriving as “surprises” mid-project. The estimate we hand you is the number we intend to finish at, and if something genuinely unforeseeable changes it, you hear about it the day we find it, in writing, before the work continues.

How does the estimate process work?
1. Call or reach out.
Tell us what you’re planning or what your deck is doing. Photos help.
2. Site visit.
We come look at the actual space: measurements, grade, access, and the condition of anything already there.
3. Scope conversation.
We talk through what you want, flag anything you haven’t thought of yet, and settle the decision points.
4. Written estimate.
You get the itemized number, the scope it covers, and the timeline, in writing.
5. Your call.
Take your time with it. There’s no countdown clock and no pressure call three days later.
What should you have ready?
Not much, honestly. The two things that speed everything up: photos of the space or the existing deck, and a sense of how you want to use it, whether that’s dinner for two or a crowd every weekend. If you have HOA rules, bring those too; they shape what we can build and it’s better to know on day one. Everything else, including measurements and permit questions, is our job during the visit.
What kinds of projects do you estimate?
Anything on our service list: building a new deck, repairing an existing one, replacing it entirely, and deck staining. Multi-level, rooftop, and pool deck projects get estimated the same way; they just involve more to look at during the site visit.
One useful distinction: an estimate prices a project you’re planning. If what you actually need is to find out what condition your deck is in before deciding anything, that’s our deck inspection service, which produces a written condition report rather than a price. Plenty of people start with the inspection and use its findings to shape what we estimate.
Why do our numbers hold up?
Because the estimate is built from the site visit, not from a per-square-foot chart. Two decks with the same footprint can be very different projects once grade, access, footings, and the condition of the existing structure are in the picture, and pricing that ignores those differences is how surprise costs happen. With 1,000+ projects completed since 2011, we’ve priced enough Austin decks to know where projects actually go sideways, and we put those factors in the estimate up front instead of discovering them on your invoice.
We also put everything in writing before work starts, every time. It’s how we’ve always run the business, and it’s why the number you approve is the number you recognize at the end.
Where do we estimate projects?
Across the Austin metro: Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Westlake Hills, Georgetown, Pflugerville, and Hutto. Site visits are a normal part of our week everywhere in the metro.
Frequently asked questions
Does getting an estimate commit me to anything?
No. The estimate is yours to think about, compare, and decide on in your own time. No countdown, no follow-up pressure campaign.
Can you give me a number over the phone?
We can talk through the project and give you an honest sense of scale, but the written number comes from seeing the space. Phone guesses that turn out wrong help nobody, least of all you.
How fast will I get the written estimate?
We’ll tell you the exact turnaround when we schedule your site visit, and then we’ll hit it. What we won’t do is promise a speed here that a busy season would turn into a broken promise.
Can you estimate a project another contractor already quoted?
Yes, and you don’t need to show us their number. We’ll price the project as we see it, and you’ll have two independently built figures to compare.
