What does our installation service include?
Everything between the idea and the finished deck. We handle the design, the material selection, the permit process when your build needs one, the site preparation, the construction, and the final walkthrough. You deal with one crew and one point of contact the whole way.

What kinds of decks can you build?
Any deck a home in this metro can carry. Most of our installs fall into four builds.
Backyard decks are the core of what we do: attached or freestanding, sized for how you actually live, whether that’s a quiet coffee spot or a deck built around entertaining.
Multi-level decks solve two problems at once. On the sloped lots that are everywhere west and northwest of the city, stepping the deck down the grade turns a yard you can’t use into the best part of the property.
Rooftop decks are their own kind of project. Loads, drainage, and access all have to be engineered properly, and the permit conversation starts earlier. We build them, and we tell you up front what the structure above your roof genuinely requires.
Pool decks take the splash zone seriously: drainage away from the pool, fasteners and materials chosen for constant moisture, and surfaces that stay comfortable barefoot in a Texas August.

Should you build in wood or composite?
Both are good answers to different questions. Wood costs less up front, looks classic, and asks for staining and sealing on a regular cycle. Composite costs more on day one and then mostly leaves you alone. We install pressure-treated pine, cedar, and hardwoods on the wood side, and Trex and TimberTech on the composite side, so we’ll lay out the honest trade-offs for your build instead of steering you to whichever we’d rather sell.
What makes a new deck last in Central Texas?
Decisions made during the build, mostly. Flashing the ledger correctly so water never sits against the house. Leaving proper gaps so boards can move through hot-and-wet cycles without cupping. Choosing fasteners rated for the material instead of whatever’s cheapest by the box. Setting posts so the base can shed water rather than soak in it. None of this shows in the photos when the deck is new; all of it decides what the deck looks like in year eight.
That’s the practical difference between a deck that’s installed and a deck that’s built. You’re welcome to ask us about any of these choices on your project, and you’ll get a straight answer.
Do I need a permit for a new deck in Austin?
Usually, yes. The City of Austin only exempts a deck from permitting when it’s under 200 square feet, sits no more than 30 inches above grade at any point, isn’t attached to the house, and doesn’t serve as an exit path from the home (source: City of Austin, Work Exempt from Building Permits). Most decks people actually want, attached to the house at door height, don’t meet that exemption.
That’s not bad news. It means your deck gets built to code, inspected, and documented, which matters when you sell the house. We handle the permit process as part of the job and build the review time into your schedule, so it’s paperwork you hear about, not paperwork you do.
How does a build go from contract to done?
1. Design and site visit.
We measure your space, look at grade and access, and finalize the design with you.
2. Written proposal.
Scope, materials, timeline, and cost in writing before anything is signed.
3. Permits and prep.
We file what the city requires, order materials, and prepare the site.
4. Construction.
The crew builds to the drawings, and you get told about anything unexpected the day we find it, not at the end.
5. Walkthrough.
We go over the finished deck together, including how to take care of it from year one.

How long does a new deck take to build?
Construction itself is usually the short part; design decisions and permit review set the real calendar. You’ll get a written timeline with your proposal, and if the city’s review pace moves it, you’ll hear from us, not silence.
Do you handle the permit, or do I?
We do. Filing, drawings, and coordinating inspections are part of the installation service for any build that needs them.
My yard slopes. Can you still build?
Yes, and you’re in good company; sloped lots are everywhere in this metro. Stepped and multi-level designs are how we turn a slope into a feature instead of a problem.
I have an old deck there now. What happens to it?
If it’s coming out, tear-out and rebuild is handled as a deck replacement, which we quote as its own scope so you’re not paying installation prices for demolition work.
